Yup, the film officially sucks, could have been so much better. Therre is a mujch better film made in sweden, However I have only seen it dubbed in Italian and don't know if it exists with english subs or dub or whatever, the title in Italian is Lasciami entrare, which rouglhy means 'Let me in' but I've heard talk of it being translated as 'Let the right one in' .

Anyways, similr sort of thing, but the whole love thing is much less played on, and it boils down to a sort of mutual repsect between Vamp and Human. Also the 2 main characters involved are a lot younger, around 12 years old, while the vampires dad goes out to hunt for blood for his daughter, although he is a normal human. Much more gritty than the American remake. Better film IMO.

On the subject of Italian dubbed sweedish films, keep an eye out for Gli uomini chi odine le donne' Men who Hate women', thats a fucked up film.
